Freemasons from across Fife gathered in Bowhill on Saturday, October 25, for the annual installation ceremony of the Master and Officebearers of Lodge St Fothad. William Miller was instated as Master of the Lodge for the sixth time, in the presence of approximately 30 members.
This event signified the continuation of the lodge's leadership and offered a chance for members to celebrate tradition, commitment, and community spirit.
Speaking after his reinstallation, Mr. Miller expressed gratitude for the trust and support shown by his brethren: "Entering this term as Master of Lodge St Fothad's No 1059, I truly appreciate the confidence shown in me by my brethren in electing me once again to this office."
The lodge has been part of Fife's cultural heritage since 1909 but has experienced challenges with declining membership numbers. Mr. Miller expressed his hope for renewed participation: "I will continue to do my best to uphold the high standards set by previous Masters of the lodge and as the lodge now only meets once a month I'd hope to see some lapsed members returning to the fold."
Looking to the future, Mr. Miller reaffirmed the lodge's commitment to staying active in the local community: "I will do my utmost to keep the lodge an integral part of village life by engaging with the Cardenden Village Fair, Bowhill Highland Games and Bowhill People's Burns Club."
The evening highlighted the ongoing camaraderie and sense of service that define Lodge St Fothad, as members look forward to another year of upholding the proud traditions of Freemasonry in Fife.
